The Descendants of Confederate Veterans, Texas Association is a genealogical, hereditary and memorial organization and its objectives are declared to be: patriotic, historical, educational, benevolent, non-political, non-racial and non-sectarian, and shall include those activities intended or designed to perpetuate the memory of those patriots who, by their services or sacrifices during the War Between the States (WBTS) fought for the independence of the Confederate States and the American South; to unite and promote fellowship among the descendants of patriots and inspire them and the community-at-large with a more profound reverence for the principles of the States Rights governance founded by our forefathers; to encourage historical research in relation to the War Between the States and to acquire and preserve the records of the individual services of the patriots of the war, as well as documents, relics and landmarks; to mark the scenes of the War Between the States by appropriate memorials and celebrate the anniversaries of the prominent events of the war and of the 1861-1865 period; to encourage all members to live their lives according to the motto of the Association; “God, Truth, Honor, Heritage.”; to foster true patriotism and carry out the purposes expressed in the American Declaration of Independence and the injunctions of General Robert E. Lee in his farewell address to the Southern Soldiers; "Go to your homes and resume your occupations. Obey the laws and become as good citizens as you were Soldiers.”

The Hungerford Family Foundation, Inc. (THFFI) was incorporated at the end of 2014 for the purpose of creating a Hungerford World Tree accompanied by fully-documented profiles of Hungerfords. The on-line site has nearly 145,000 profiles of Hungerfords, their ancestors and descendants. THFFI welcomes anyone who is descended from any Hungerford, especially folks whose last name is not Hungerford. THFFI is trying to connect all living persons to their Hungerford Ancestry and provide them with access to documentation not found anywhere else “under one roof.” THFFI is replicating and supplementing the content of Stanley W. Hungerford’s Hungerford genealogy book.* We are placing that material here on-line rather than publishing it in book form. THFFI also is a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Donations are fully deductible for United States tax purposes. The Society of the First African Families of English America is a 501(c)(3) non-profit lineage organization that unites descendants of African ancestry who lived in English America prior to March 5, 1770 the date of the Boston Massacre and the death of Crispus Attucks the first patriot casualty of the American Revolution, and includes those patriots who served in the war or supported the war cause. The society was formed in 2019, during the 400th. commemoration of the arrival of the first documented Africans brought to what was then known as English America. The society provides knowledge and understanding of why the First African Families of English America were important, how they shaped American history, and how their contributions and that of their descendants helped to shape democratic principles around the world through educational programming and publications, and historic preservation of the artifacts and landmarks from the colonial period to present day.

The Descendants of Confederate Veterans is a 501(c)3 organization open to lineal or collateral descendants of members of the Confederate military or government who served honorably during the civil war. There is no age limit and males and females are admitted with the voting age and age of which one can be an officer being 18 years of age. The Purposes and Principals of the organization may be found on the web site under the tab where the organization's Constitution is location, in Article II, Sections a-f. The organization is similar in form and nature to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Military Order of the Stars and Bars, Society of the Order of the Southern Cross and Hood's Texas Brigade Association, all of which are already listed with the Society, and in which many of our members share membership. While we organized in Texas, we currently have Chapters in South Carolina and Mississippi and at-large members in Virginia and Florida.

His wife, Juliana Marchant. Their children: Damaris (Arnold), Samuel, Robert, Amos, Mercy (Stafford), Jeremiah. Spelling of the name has changed through the years even within the same family group.
