Membership is composed of men and women of good moral character and reputation who are the descendants of those ancestors who traveled with fellow Quakers to America between September 28, 1681 and September 16, 1682. This includes the twenty-three trans-Atlantic voyages made by the following twenty-two ships: Welcome; Bristol Factor; John & Sarah; Amity; Freeman; Hester & Hannah; Lyon; Friendship; Mary; Society; Golden Hindle; Samuel; Friends Adventure; Providence; Elizabeth, Ann & Catherine; Hopewell; Lamb; Jeffrey; Antelope; Unicorn; Submission; and Adventure.
Active Members are men and women over the age of twenty-one. Residents are considered to be those living within fifty miles of Philadelphia, while nonresidents are those who live beyond fifty miles.
Junior Members are those individuals under the age of twenty-one. Junior members cannot vote, hold office or propose or endorse members, but may be invited to entertainments given by the Society. Upon reaching age twenty-one, Junior Members automatically become Active Members.
