She is married to Vincent Rios, retired Assistant Regional Administrator, Regions IX and X, U.S. Department of Labor and medically retired United States Marine (Vietnam veteran – two tours). She has one child, Christopher, four step-children, Mitchell Rios, Michelle Rios, Frances Rios, and Pete Rios. She and Vince share seven grandchildren.

She has lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, California, Alaska and now resides in Texas, a state to which she has always come home between her jaunts to experience life in other states. She worked as a fingerprint specialist for the Fort Worth Police Department (TX), as a Project Coordinator, Justice Policy Institute, and owned a medical transcription service.
