Mrs. Birch received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, and is a retired secretary. She and her husband, Richard Denis Birch have one son, MAJ David Llewellyn Birch.

Her grandmother Baxter’s birthplace and home was Caledonia, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada, and her father’s mother was Mary Helen Douglas of Caledonia, Nova Scotia. The Heritage Society maintains the house with artifacts and donations fitting to the 1800’s.
