Col. Myron P. Smith and Mary Louise Crenshaw. He is married to Marguerite (McNierney) Smith and they reside in Greeley, Colorado. They have a daughter, Roxane Smith and a son Myron M. Smith both of Greeley.

Born in Baltimore, MD, his father’s military career took the family to China, Japan, Germany and many different parts of the U.S. before settling in Colorado. Dr. Smith attended the University of Colorado and after receiving a BA degree in Chemistry he would go on to attend the University of Colorado Medical School in Denver where he received an MD degree in 1968. After a four-year residency in Pathology at St. Lukes Hospital in Denver, he spent two years as a Staff Pathologist assigned to the Naval Hospital at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida.

Since retiring he and his wife enjoy traveling and visiting many different countries and cultures around the world. Dr. Smith has also done an extensive amount of genealogical research on both his and his wife’s family and his authored several different articles for genealogical journals and websites.

He and his father were Eagle Scouts but one of his proudest moments was when his son became a third generation Eagle Scout. His wife and daughter were also very active in Camp Fire and his daughter was awarded the WoHeLo Award, Campfires highest award. Dr. Smith served in numerous roles in the Longs Peak Council including Vice President for all Council Programs. He was active in both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts programs and was able to attend two National Jamborees at Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia and one World Jamboree in Holland as part of the National BSA Staff.

He eventually served as the National Model Railroad Association Vice President for the Rocky Mountain Region during the early 1990's. Contest modeling was also something that he always enjoyed and in 1985 he entered the model contest at the annual NMRA International Convention in Kansas City and was lucky enough to win the Gold Award for Best in Show for his scratch built model caboose.

He feels that the opportunity to help young children learn to read is extremely rewarding at many levels and besides that, it’s great fun. Each week is a new experience.

He enjoys the challenge of doing the research required to prove one of those difficult lines of descent for an obscure ancestor in enough detail to satisfy the experts. In several cases, these efforts have uncovered new information about these ancestors that was previously unknown. In 1999 Dr. Smith became a Kentucky Colonel.

It is deeply rewarding to share their later years with two wonderful, responsible, and successful adults and their families.
