He attended Highland Park High School in Dallas and the University of Texas, in Austin, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). He also graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Information Technology and Marketing.

He was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Fraternity after graduating with honors with his MBA. Bill serves as an Alumni Advisor to his Social Fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, at Texas A&M University.

He remains active in the club having chaired their Membership Experience Committee and Fitness Committee. He enjoys history, genealogy and to honor his grandfather, who was a Texas nurseryman and farmer, he plants a vegetable and herb garden at his house every year.
