She was married in 2002 in Waterloo, Iowa, to David Clifford Posz. Ms. Posz received her Bachelors in Arts (Humanistic Studies) in 2003 from the University of Northern Iowa and has resided in Washington, D.C. since 2006.

She has been a board-certified genealogist since 2013 and is currently the eighth Executive Director for the Board for Certification of Genealogists.
